Minnewaska Bike Expo Ride Routes.

Here are descriptions of the rides we'll be running at the Expo. Mileage and the time it takes to complete the ride are approximate. These rides aren't races, they will be done at a pace comfortable for all riders. All rides will have a ride leader and most will have a volunteer riding sweep to help riders who encounter difficulties.

All of these rides have hills, some quite steep. Before tackling any of them both you and your bicycle should be in good shape.

Beacon Hill carriageway ... yellow route on this map
A good route to check out your bicycle on. This route is slightly downhill on the way out with a slight climb on the way back. There are some pretty amazing views of the back of the Shawangunk Ridge and Catskills at the end. 2.5 miles - 1 hours.

Ride around Lake Minnewaska ... blue route on this map
A short but hilly ride. None of the hills are very long but 2 are kind of steep. Many scenic views of Lake Minnewaska. 2 miles - 1 hour.

Upper Awosting carriageway to Lake Awosting ... green route on this map
A longer but fairly flat route. Not as scenic as some other routes, but the easiest way to Lake Awosting. 6.2 miles - 2 hours.

Patterson's Pellet to Millbrook Mountain finishing with a ride around Lake Minnewaska ... orange route on this map
A longer, challenging ride with great views at Paterson's Pellet and Millbrook Mountain. 6 miles - 2 hours.

Castle Point carriageway to Lake Awosting and back via Upper Awosting carriageway ... yellow route on this map
A long, challenging route. Great views of the Hudson Valley, Lake Awosting, and the Catskills. 8 miles - 2.5 hours.

Castle Point carriageway to Lake Awosting, around the lake, and back via Lower Awosting carriageway and the Sunset Carriageway ... red route on this map
Probably the longest, most challenging route in the park. Great views of the Hudson Valley, Lake Awosting, and the Catskills. There's some great downhill riding on the Lower Awosting Carriageway, but you pay for it with a long, steep ride back up the Sunset Carriageway. 13 miles - 3.5 hours.
